The 17th Macau Food Festival was convened at Sai Van Lake Square from 10th to 26th November 2017. More than 150 merchants will participate in the event, showcasing the unique food culture of Macau. The seventeen-day Festival also aims to enlighten the creative ideas of the catering industry in Macau, providing a brand new and fun experience to all the local residents and tourists.

The Macau Food Festival is organized by The United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macao, co-organized by Macau Restaurant Workers' Union, Associação de Cozinheiros de Culinária Chinesa de Macau, Associação de Empregados de Restaurantes Padarias de Macau, Macau Journalists Association, and supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office, Macao Foundation, Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau, and the Environmental Protection Bureau. The Festival, firstly held in 2000, is one of the most favorite gastronomic events in Macau.

With the theme “Exploring the New Frontiers of Flavor”, the Festival this year invites local residents and visitors to explore the new and fun ideas in the local, traditional catering and cooking fields. Moreover, the Festival creates an international marketing and sales platform for the local, small-middle catering merchants. Likewise, it is also an opportunity for those merchants to showcase their unique flavor to all the people in the catering industry and tourists coming from the countries across the world. As Macau is applying to become a member of UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) and Creative City of Gastronomy, the Festival aims to make a response to the project, making the application process more meaningful.

This year, the Organizing Committee invites 26 food and beverage participants from Kansai of Japan, adding the authentic Japanese flavor. A Japanese Village will be built at the lower level of Sai Van Lake Square, where the participants will present the authentic Japanese delicacies and give the residents and tourists an extraordinary experience.

Different shows by sponsors, Japanese traditional performance and live performance will light up the Festival every night. Moreover, a lot of game booths will be set up on-site with attractive prizes to create a slave of pleasure and wonderful carnival time.
