The Fire Services Department has always stressed the importance of fire safety in Macau’s catering industry. Since 2005, the Fire Services Department has been working with the United Association of Food and Beverage Merchants of Macau to organize annual fire safety seminar for industry practitioners to improve the awareness of emergency measures in case of fire and fire safety knowledge. It also takes the initiative responds to the requirements of licensing department to perform fire safety routine inspection of operating restaurants and stores for fire safety conditions examination.
The Fire Safety seminar was held on October 18 at the Fire Department Headquarters & Sai Van Lake Action Station. A total of 120 industry practitioners participated. The seminar introduced the mission, beliefs and aspirations of the Fire Services Department, the theory of fire, common fire hazards, contingency measures and escape skills, introduction of fire facilities and equipments, daily maintenance methods of fire system, and operation method of fire extinguishers, fire hose reels and other equipments.
The Director of Fire Services Department, Leung Yuk Sheng and Vice President of the UAFBMM Lu Shek Zhu act as the officiating guests. The Director of Fire Services Department presented a certificate to the participating representatives of the Association. Both parties agreed to continue to organize similar seminars to promote fire safety of Macau catering industry and create a good image of Macau as a tourism city.
